Whatever these are, they're beautiful. Saw some when I travelled to Kenya. Never got such a good close up photo as this.

@Viewfinder: I kick myself for not noting the name of these birds while I was at the Los Angeles Zoo. How great that you saw them in their natural habitat. If but for their captive state at the zoo, I would not have been able to get this shot. Thanks for your comment :o)

as always, great pic... I read a story a few years ago saying that the bluebird was in fact not blue at all but a dull gray... they said that the feathers of the bird had a crystalline structure (or something like that) that reflected light to the human eye as blue... but if you took the bird and put it in flourescent or some other artificial light, it wasn't blue at all... your photo reminded me of that article.. I'll stop babbling now...
